Two Passes by the Brunette in Pink and Cat Still Goes Home Empty Handed after Last Call

Cataraqui II 2 vs ihMyBar 4

The last game of the regular season was not the fairy tale game it looked like it might be from the start.  Cataraqui II got off to an excellent start with Kevin, the handsome prince, being greeted in a most exciting and somewhat inappropriate manner by one of the officials.  After the referee’s assistant had jumped all over Kevin, we were regaled with a tale of how this individual had been selected for duty in a prestigious tourney thanks to our prince’s intervention.

On to the match.  Once again ihMyBar started with fewer than the conventional number of players, but we were unable to capitalize on territorial advantage.  The opposition got their first goal from a scramble involving Rick in goal, who appeared to be impeded in his efforts to deck the forward who managed to put the ball into the net.  The second own goal in two weeks put ihMyBar up 2 – 0.

Once again Cataraqui II required to be 3 – 0 down before the fires were lit.  A much kneeded (spelling is correct) goal came from Brian Harpell, who despite uncertainty from the bench, was indeed playing.  A second goal followed shortly thereafter, a bit of a scramble, but nicely finished by James McIntyre.

There was a fair amount of regret that no cameras were at the scene to witness and outstanding play on the right wing.  This culminated in what could only be called “a swing and a miss” followed by a two-step from yours truly. (I was not sorry about the lack of cameras.)

So its on to the Play-offs for the boys in black, looking as if we are against Kelsey’s who finished second, tied on points with Vita with more goals for and a better goal difference – hmmm.

Guys, thanks for a great season: I for one had enormous fun and look forward to the Play-offs and to next year.

Ross Morton

Webmaster notes:
- Cat's second goal was actually a beautifully directed corner kick missile by Joel Badour.
- We face Kelsey's because Vita beat Kelseys two out of their three meetings, so by head to head stats, Vita takes first place.
