We Got Stuffed.
Hard to describe it any other way really. However, it was not all one way traffic. The KUSC goalkeeper (a bit of an actor) did pull off some good saves in amongst the showboating, and KUSC only just kept their clean sheet when a second half shot was headed off the line. The showboater had been caught hopelessly out of position for that one.
Notable efforts from Peter Boyle, Joel Badour, James McIntyre, Val Tomsons, Brian Harpell, Johnathan Baldwin and Dino Laurie were parried or tipped away. So, when you add it up we could have had a couple of goals ourselves. However, Rick Pierce made some fantastic one on one and two on one saves which kept us away from a cricket score.
We were short a few guys on the bench, particularly in defense, but we are also short on excuses, KUSC were a bit faster and passed the ball nicely. They certainly deserved their win. However, if we want a couple of excuses, the referee (who left a very nice Golden Labrador at the side of the field) and the new linesman (clearly on an orientation day) are easy targets. I must say, though, I got off lightly trying bring down one of the KUSC forwards.
The team spirit remains undaunted, and a great turnout at the Toucan rounded off the night. Wayne Ingham was there with his soon to be brother-in-law Duff (from Oz). Wayne was clearly on Ozzy time, showing up at the mid way through the second half and expecting the game to start soon.
