Cataraqui II Defeat 8-Man Frontenac United

Cataraqui II 4 Frontenac United 1

Cataraqui II took our time in putting away an 8-man KUFC side which was hopelessly outnumbered, but still managed a goal.  We spent the first half camped in the opposition half, and just about everyone had a shot on goal.

Luc Hempel it was who finally opened the scoring after some frustrating moments.  Not long after, Frontenac were level after a well taken shot beat Melvin Orozco at the far post.  The game proceeded with Cataraqui II the dominant force, and Val Tomsens headed a nice goal just before the half.

The second half was similar to the first, lots of chances, but few goals.  Peter Boyle Jr who had hit the crossbar, seen several good shots saved scored a thunderous goal on the rebound from his own penalty kick.  There was no way the ball was going anywhere but the back of the net on this one.  Roman Zablocki (scoring only his second goal of the season) rounded out the night.

It was a chilly evening for the fans, a good result if not the most entertaining game.  Elsewhere, Vita lost to Grizzly’s which has left Cataraqui II seven points clear at the top with three games to go.  All games are 6pm kick-off, with the next two at St Lawrence College and Ernestown Secondary School respectively, before returing to Caton’s for the season closer.
