Cat II Pressure but Mother Nature Prevents the Floodgates from Opening

Cataraqui II – SGSP United
It’s a Washout

On some days rain is a good thing.  It is not clear whether the rain saved us some embarrassment, or prevented us from winning a game we had dominated from the start.  Despite the fact that all the play was at one end, the only goal of a foreshortened first half was at the wrong end when SGSP United put away a simple shot after a two on one against the defence.

There was a nasty incident on the field when two SGSP United players clashed heads trying to knock Ross Corcoran over.  This resulted in one very broken nose (worse than Roman’s – although probably a bit less expensive), and a minor gash to the scalp.  Ross got off very lightly on that one.

Half-time came a little early (no real stoppage time played despite a fair delay for the blood), but not a moment too soon as it transpired.

A rainfall of diluvian proportions, accompanied by lightning and thunder – why do people always say thunder and lightning when the lightning comes first? – sent the crowds scattering for their vehicles.
A not insignificant number of bedraggled souls made it to the Toucan, including the bare chested Paul Blais (who then used up all the paper towel in men’s room before dressing) for a couple of beers.

This one will have to be rescheduled, and we should do better!
