Badour Shows His MVP Legs While Cat II Stumble

Cataraqui II 2 vs KUSC I 6

After the Lord Mayor’s show ……
A good run in the league was brought to a sobering end at Caton’s I.  (Also helped by the fact that none of the pubs had any power after the game and the LCBO shelves had been swept clean by the local locusts fearing a strike).

From the bench, it was difficult to see what went wrong here, except for the fact that every time KUSC put the ball in the net (and there were many of those) we had a great chance and just didn’t take it.  We were 4 – 0 down within 20 minutes. The difference was not for a lack of trying on our part: good saves, crossbars and posts abounded, and we did get 2 goals.  Amidst the chances, I had to look up who actually scored – well done Joel (MVP) Badour and Brian Harpell.

From the field, the problems were not that much easier to spot.  Pace was one of them, but surprisingly (even in my case) minor.  One KUSC player had some very nice skills on the ball, but one player does not constitute a team.  Hard to pin point the reason for such a drubbing, from a fairly lowly placed team.

Overconfidence was not a factor, and we had the bulk of our players out with enough substitutes on the bench to keep us reasonably fresh.

All in all a frustrating game against a team which looked (and were) easy to score on provided the ball was between the sticks.  We should lick our wounds on this one, but not read too much into it.
